Booking FAQ's (15)_edited.png

HOW DO I SECURE THE BOOKING FOR MY WEDDING HAIR AND MAKEUP?

Securing your booking is simple, as we chat, we will gather information from you about the services each person in your bridal party would like. We will send you over our Google Form to get this process started and keep the process simple and streamlined. Once we have that, we will send you a contract to review and sign. You want to ensure each member of your bridal party is absolutely set on receiving their services, once a member is on your contract, they cannot be removed, and you will be responsible for their cost if they choose not to have services done. We have had circumstances where a member changes their mind on receiving services, in that case we always offer to let you find someone to fill their spot (as long as it is not within two weeks of your wedding date) so you don’t lose out on the cost of services. If someone backs out or can’t make it within two weeks of your wedding, you will be responsible for the full cost of their services.

Once we send your contract, we will also include information on how place your booking fee to secure your date. Your date is fully secured when we’ve received the signed contract as well as your booking fee.

WHAT IF MY BRIDAL PARTY DOESNT KNOW THE HAIR STYLE THEY WANT?

If your bridal party is unsure of the style of hair they are looking for on the big day, don’t worry! We always recommend selecting and “updo” and if the member changes or modifies this to a different style, we can adjust the cost to reflect the change in service.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU TAKE BOOKINGS AND DO YOU HAVE LAST MINUTE AVAILABILITY?

We usually take bookings up to 2 years in advance, so it is never too early to book. Any wedding vendor will tell you, the earlier the better. Since COVID, wedding dates have filled up years in advance, so if you have a “must have” vendor list that you want for you big day, book sooner versus later!

Per availability, we can also book last-minute weddings and if we can make it happen, we will!

HOW MUCH IS THE BOOKING FEE, WHEN IS IT DUE AND WHEN IS FINAL PAYMENT DUE?

Your booking fee is 50% of your contract total, generally, when we send a contract, it's due within 3 days. Final payment is due either two days prior to your wedding date when paying with Zelle, Venmo or PayPal.

Or we allow you to pay day of your wedding in cash.

HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL, WHAT IS THE COST?

Anywhere in the New England area. (Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts). Travel is calculated per stylist round trip. Travel is $50 per hour, per stylist, round trip.

DO YOU CHARGE EXTRA FOR SUNDAY OR BANK HOLIDAY WEDDING HAIR AND MAKEUP?

No, the cost is the same whatever day you book as we believe there should not be a premium for a certain day of the week or public holidays.

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept  Zelle (preferred), Venmo, PayPal and Cash.

CAN I ADD EXTRA PEOPLE TO MY WEDDING HAIR AND MAKEUP BOOKING AFTER THE INITIAL BOOKING HAS BEEN MADE?

Yes. We just need to know the final list of who is getting hair/makeup services done at least one month in advance so we can make the final timeline and make sure we have the team you will need to accommodate your whole wedding party.

I WOULD LIKE TO ONLY USE ONE OF YOUR WEDDING HAIR OR MAKEUP SERVICES, BUT NOT BOTH, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Yes of course, as we are two separate artists this isn’t a problem. However, we do require a minimum of at least 4 members (not including the bride) needing services. As long as you are able to meet it with you and your wedding party, we are happy to provide the services you need!

DO YOU OFFER A SERVICE WHERE YOU STAY DURING THE WEDDING OR RECEPTION TO DO TOUCH-UPS FOR HAIR OR MAKEUP FOR THE BRIDE AND GUESTS?

Yes, we do offer this service. If the bride is having a full restyle for hair, and makeup and touch-ups to hair and makeup for the wedding party or anyone receiving services, this does come with an additional fee which will be discussed upon booking.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY WEDDING HAIR AND MAKEUP OR REDUCE THE NUMBERS FOR HAIR OR MAKEUP?

Cancellations of the wedding in its entirety can be done at any point however you may still be responsible for final costs depending on when you cancel. Booking fees are non-refundable per our contract. Please see our terms and conditions for details.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CHANGE MY WEDDING DATE?

You are more than welcome to re-schedule your wedding date due to unforeseen circumstances, however, if you have a new date in mind we will need to check if we are available. If we are unavailable, your booking fee is non-refundable and your current date will be forfeited unless you have come to an agreement with Missy and I. As long as we are available, your current contract will be transferred to the new date. If the new date falls into the following year/years, cost may be adjusted to reflect that years service cost (generally this cost does not increase more than $15 per service). Please see our terms and conditions for details.

I HAVE A LARGER WEDDING PARTY OR GUESTS STAYING LOCALLY CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE LARGER GROUPS OR MULTIPLE LOCATIONS?

Yes! We can comfortably handle up to 10 people in a wedding party if the timing allows. If timing is tighter, we may bring assistants with us to help make sure we stay within the time frame needed to finish on time. If assistants are required, there is a fee of $100 per assistant and this will be discussed with you prior to. We try our best not to move locations as set up and break down times as well as travel to a new location take time out of the service schedule.

IS YOUR TEAM FULLY INSURED AND QUALIFIED IN WEDDING HAIR AND MAKEUP?

Yes, our team is covered by liability insurance and we will not operate without it. We are both fully qualified and highly experienced to ensure you have the best hair and makeup experience and peace of mind in knowing you have booked a professional team for the big day.

Booking FAQ's (18)_edited.png

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE HAIR OR MAKEUP TRIAL AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

We will firstly provide a full in-depth consultation. This is where we will go through with you every detail so we can gain a real understanding of exactly what you do and don’t like. Taking into account your personal style and hair or makeup preferences i.e., whether you like a little subtlety or prefer a bolder more dramatic look. Detailing any color schemes and themes for the wedding to incorporate into the final look.

We will make note of any skin or hair issues you would like to conceal and features you would like to enhance.

Once a style has been decided, we will style the hair or makeup showing you at every stage so you feel comfortable with the chosen look, if necessary, we will make any changes to the hair or makeup to ensure you are perfectly happy with the style no matter how long it takes.

At the end of the consultation, we confirm all the details and timings for the wedding day so you can relax knowing everything is organized and in place for your special day.

Please allow 1- 1.5 hours for the bridal trial bridesmaid/wedding party trials may take a little less time. Please note multiple style changes will take longer and may result in a higher trial cost.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE HAIR & MAKEUP TRIAL?

We will reach out one week prior to your scheduled appointment in a group text with details, prep and directions for your trial appointment.

We will ask you to either send your hair and makeup ideas prior to our appointment or be sure you have them ready for your trial.

Come with a clean face and wash and dry your hair the day before your trial (unless your hair is oily, then wash morning of and arrive with dry hair) as this will be best for styling the hair.

Provide any hair accessories you would like us to use on the wedding day.

If you would like any hair extensions added please bring these along to the trial, you can discuss with your stylist where to buy them prior to your appointment. Hair extensions will need to be brought to Missy before your wedding so she can have them pre-curled to help save time on your wedding day. Extensions do come with an upcharge as well which we will discuss with you during your trial.

WHERE DOES THE TRIAL TAKE PLACE AND DO YOU COME TO MY LOCATION ON THE WEDDING DAY?

All trial runs are done at Missy’s salon in Woolwich Maine unless we are scheduling your hair and makeup trial separately in which case, you’d go to Missy for your hair trial and go to Haley in Fryeburg Maine for your makeup trial. If this is something we need to do, we will be sure to discuss this ahead of time. Typically, this only happens if you cannot make one of our available trial dates work for you.

We travel directly to you for your wedding day.

CAN I BOOK A TRIAL BEFORE BOOKING THE WEDDING DATE?

We are happy to do a trial run prior to booking, with that being said, we do offer a “hold the date” booking fee option so your date is held with us until your trial. “Hold the Date” is usually a portion of your (the brides) wedding makeup cost. The day of your trial, as long as you are happy with the look, we will then complete your contract and you will be asked to put down your remaining booking fee (We usually gather that information during your trial and send you your official contract the next day). We do receive several inquiries every day, so, after your trial, your “hold the date” will be null and void so be sure to let us know right away if you plan to book with us as we cannot ensure the security of your date until we have received an official contract and full booking fee. We would highly recommend booking as soon as you have selected your date as they fill up extremely fast.

SHOULD MY HAIR BE FRESHLY WASHED BEFORE THE TRIAL RUN?

Absolutely. We ask our clients to wash their hair the day before any styling appointments. It is easier for us to add the right amount of texture to achieve the style you have picked when your hair starts somewhat “dirty”. However, if you have finer or more oily hair, we ask you wash the morning of, and make sure you arrive with your hair completely dry.

WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO WEAR MY USUAL MAKE UP FOR THE TRIAL RUN?

We have our clients come with clean faces. Simply show up with freshly cleansed and moisturized skin. If you don’t use a moisturizer, no big deal, Haley will have them on hand as it’s part of the prep before your makeup application. We ask you to avoid using any heavy moisturizers or eye creams as they can cause “pilling” under the makeup.

DO I NEED MY VEIL AND HAIR ACCESSORIES FOR THE TRIAL RUN?

We suggest our clients come with the veil and hair accessories they want to use on their wedding day so we can practice the final look. If you do not have them yet, that’s okay, we can make it work! Missy also always has a selection of hair pieces that she sells if you see one and fall in love with it.

DO I NEED TO COLLECT IMAGES OF THE STYLES I LIKE?

We ask all our clients to either send over pictures of their desired hair and makeup looks prior to the appointment or ensure they have them the day of their trial. This ensures we can spend the appointment working on recreating the look, rather than looking through Pinterest and trying to figure out what you do/don’t want.

CAN THE BRIDESMAIDS/ BRIDES MOM HAVE A TRIAL RUN?

Bridesmaids and Moms don't need to have a trial run; however, we have done them! We are happy to schedule an appointment before the big day to alleviate any concerns.

IS IT OK TO INVITE A FRIEND ALONG WHEN I HAVE MY TRIAL?

Absolutely! We love having friends or family come to the trial run to share their feedback. We do ask that you keep it to a maximum of three guests as Missy’s salon isn’t a large space.

*Guest limits may be subject to change with the ongoing COVID pandemic.

WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY TRIAL RUN?

Typically, we schedule our trial runs for the current season between the months of November/December of the current year (this may not always be an option), but we like to keep it as an option, but normally trials are held from January-April of the following year. During booking, if we have already selected trial dates, we will let you know of available days and times. Generally, we book brides based on their wedding date. If your wedding is earlier on in the season (April-July), we will reach out to you first, and then the remaining (July-October) brides will be contacted after that. This ensures everyone gets a trial in a timely manner with enough time prior to the wedding to make any changes.

WHAT IF THE DATES YOU HAVE DONT WORK WITH MY SCHEDULE? CAN WE SELECT ANOTHER DATE?

The short answer is yes! However, we pre-select these “trial” dates ahead of time as it’s easiest to schedule multiple bridal trials in a day as we like them to take place so we can do hair and makeup at the same time at Missy’s salon in Bath. Your trial block is approximately 1.5  hours. This allows us ample time to try out the styles you’re looking to achieve as well as talk about logistics such as bridal party dynamics and schedules for the day of your wedding. If dates don’t work for you, we are happy to individually accommodate your schedule! This just means you will go to Missy for your hair trial and go to Haley for your makeup trial. If travel to either isn’t an option, we can discuss other options as long as our schedules allow for it!

WHAT IF I CAN’T HAVE A TRIAL DUE TO TIME OR SCHEDULING CONFLICTS?

First off, don’t worry! We have done dozens of weddings without doing a trial prior to, and we always make it happen! We ask for lots of photos of your hair naturally as well as your skin, and as much inspiration photos and direction ahead of time to alleviate any concerns you may have. Please note, we only do trials prior to our season which starts in May. If you book past May, or are looking for a trial during our height season (May-October) we will do our best to accommodate but due to very high demand, we may not be able to make a trial happen during that time. With that, if we don’t do a trial, when we create your schedule, we will block out more time with you (the bride) than we typically would to ensure we get your look absolutely perfect!

WHAT IF I’M NOT HAPPY AFTER MY TRIAL?

We will follow up after your trial run to discuss your feedback and any changes you want to make. If you are unhappy, we will gladly do a second trial run (as long as scheduling allows) to make sure we create the perfect look for your wedding day. We encourage the most honesty and constructive criticism! We don’t get offended because we truly understand how perfect you want this day to be! Our biggest concern is making sure you love this look for the big day, so honesty is key! If we do a second trial run and you still aren’t loving the look or feel as though we are not the right fit for you, it is okay. Over the years we have yet to have this happen as we do our best to accommodate you on every level, but we encourage transparency and know how important this day is for you. If this is the case, please reach out to us and we can discuss options in terms of your contract and payment details.

Booking FAQ's (17)_edited.png

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU NEED ON THE WEDDING DAY?

We always block two hours for the bride on her wedding day (one hour for hair, one hour for makeup) We like to stagger hair and makeup on the entire bridal party, so no one is having services done at the same time. This makes it a lot easier on both Missy and myself. If we work at the same time, it can be tricky as sometimes Missy needs to move the head around to pin hair into place, and sometimes I need you completely still so we’ve found it best to stagger your services. Services for the wedding party are 30-55 minutes per service depending on the hair style and makeup look. Any client with hair below the bra strap or extensions will take longer than normal as there’s obviously more hair to tend to! We will carefully map out your day with you to make sure things run smoothly.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE WEDDING DAY AND HOW LONG WILL HAIR & MAKEUP TAKE?

We typically arrive 30 minutes before we are scheduled to begin with your wedding party to set up and scope out your getting ready space.

We will set up an area for hair or makeup usually we would ask for a location with lots of natural light for applying the makeup if possible and for hair an area that has a plug point for the hair appliances.

Based on the timeline you have reviewed and approved prior to your wedding day we will start with your wedding party at the allotted time. Each service takes between 30-55 minutes, however, we do build in a cushion for any clients that take a little longer or need changes.

For our bride, we give roughly 1 hour for hair and 1 hour for makeup (this may be more depending on the style chosen) so we can take our time and have you relax.

Once everyone is ready we use the last 30 minutes for touchups, lips, etc. to ensure you are all camera ready for the day ahead.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR HAIR OR MAKEUP ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Just like for your trial, we will send you a confirmation group text the week prior to your payment due date. This will include all details for prep, confirmation of arrival times, address we will be going to, payment details as well as another copy of your wedding day hair and makeup schedule. We encourage our brides to forward along the information to their bridal party so everyone is on the same page!

For your makeup application, we ask clients arrive with clean skin.

“Dirty”, day old hair will help with styling unless your hair tends to be more oily, then wash the morning of, we will be sure to ask you about each member receiving services prior to your wedding to help guide you in the right direction.

Avoid using any hair products or using any heat appliances as this can affect styling.

Please wear a robe/dressing gown or something that can be easily taken off rather than over the head as this may affect the finished hair or makeup.

WILL MY HAIR & MAKEUP LAST THE WHOLE DAY?

We pride ourselves on our skills in this field and have over the years discovered as a team the best products to ensure your hair and makeup will last the whole day and into the evening.

WHAT ABOUT TOUCH UPS ON THE BIG DAY? HOW WILL THE MAKEUP LAST? DO YOU GIVE US ANYTHING TO HELP ENSURE LONGEVITY?

Something that sets us apart is our “touch up bags” we give to anyone receiving hair and makeup services. Each bag is fully equipped with everything you may need in case of emergency as well as for touch ups as the day progresses. In each bag you will receive: your lip color, blotting sheets, qtips, bobby-pins, tic-tacs and a makeup wipe for easy removal at the end of the day.

IS THERE A RUNNING ORDER/SCHEDULE FOR WEDDING MAKEUP ON THE DAY?

After years of experience in bridal hair and make-up we will make sure this is something we discuss in detail with you during your trial, and if you don’t/can’t have a trial we will set up a call to discuss scheduling. We will also give you a hand out with specific details as to what information we need from you in order to build your schedule perfectly to allow for the day to flow seamlessly.

We would recommend Bridesmaid/MOB that is going to get the bride into her wedding dress go first, that way once they have had their hair and makeup done they can get themselves ready so they will be free to help the bride into her dress once her hair and makeup is finished.

We will also ask about anyone who is going to be running around, setting up things at the venue, as we want to make sure they go and get all of those tasks done before sitting for hair and makeup especially during the summer months! Anyone doing many tasks and sweating or being out in the elements should have their tasks completed to prior to hair and makeup to ensure longevity. If this isn’t possible, don’t worry, we’ll most likely still be in the building in case anyone needs touch ups!

We also understand that each bridal party comes with its own dynamics and no one is perfect, we understand there may be some varying personalities that may be better if there are certain members that are done earlier versus later to avoid conflict! Please let us know of these things ahead of time, and don’t worry, we won’t tell!

It would be advisable for the bride to have her hair and makeup done towards the end of the timeline to ensure her look is fresh and fabulous for the walk down the aisle. We allow roughly two hours (one hour for each service) for the bride so you can sit down and relax and we can take our time to create your perfect wedding day look. Generally, the brides hair will be second to last on the hair schedule, and the brides makeup will be last on the makeup schedule.

Mother of the Bride/Groom, junior bridesmaids, flower girls, or anyone not involved in dressing the bride or directly in the bridal party to go last as they can easily slip their dresses on.

WHEN DO WE PAY THE FINAL BALANCE FOR THE WEDDING DAY HAIR & MAKEUP?

The final balance is due 2 days prior to your event if your paying via Venmo, PayPal or Zelle however we will gladly accept cash for final payment on the day of your wedding.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE SICK ON MY WEDDING DAY?

We have an amazing network of artists that can step in to help if there are ever any unexpected circumstances. We partner closely with other vendors in the area to ensure if this happens, we got you covered!

Booking FAQ's (16)_edited.png

WHAT TYPE OF BRANDS DO YOU USE?

We use many different high-end brands hand-selected to give the best results for each skin/hair type. Makeup brands include Bare Minerals (foundations), Smashbox, Laura Mercier, Gerard Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Morphe, Colourpop, BH Cosmetics, ELF and many more. Hair products include Kenra, Big Sexy Hair.

DO YOU CATER TO SENSITIVE OR PROBLEM-PRONE SKIN?

If you have sensitive skin we have products designed to calm and desensitize your skin. For Acne/Rosacea or problem-prone skin, we use specially formulated primers and concealers to neutralize redness, ensuring your skin remains flawless all day. I’ve been doing makeup professionally for 12 + years now and my specialty is the “no makeup-makeup” I work especially hard to make sure you look as much like yourself and feel comfortable in your own skin while minimizing the things that you don’t love about your skin. Focusing on using products with minimal ingredients, and most importantly ingredients that are good for your skin and non-comedogenic is very important to me. I want your skin to be able to breathe and I want to make sure you don’t feel as though you have a mask of foundation caked on to your face. Coverage is best achieved with sheer buildable layers so you avoid that “makeup” feeling on the skin.

I WANT TO USE SOME OF MY OWN MAKEUP PRODUCTS IS THIS POSSIBLE?

To an extent, yes! When we send out your trial text, we would encourage you to voice a concern such as this (a foundation you absolutely love to use, a specific type of lash you want for the big day etc. as we may ask you to bring it with you for the trial). We want you to feel totally comfortable so if you would like us to use a product, such as a favorite lip color or a set of lashes you know works well on your skin we are more than happy to do so. However, any sort of complexion product (foundation, concealer, eye pallet, etc.) will have to come from Haley directly (unless we have spoken about this prior to). Due to increased concerns with COVID and strict sanitation standards, we opt to use our products versus yours to avoid any cross contamination or risk of virus spread. We use disposable wands and applicators with all of our products and sanitize brushes and pallets in between each client. If this is a concern for you, just let us know and we can discuss further.

I NORMALLY WEAR VERY LITTLE MAKEUP, WILL I NEED TO WEAR LOTS OF MAKEUP TO LOOK GOOD?

Not at all, our service is about enhancing your natural features and creating a look that feels like you, just more polished, ensuring you look flawless on and off camera. Bridal makeup is all about good balance therefore we will ensure there is a balance of what will look good on camera and still natural to make sure you feel comfortable with your chosen look. The “no makeup-makeup” look is classic and timeless. Haley focuses on a “natural glam” vibe that photographs beautifully and still stays true to who you are.

DO YOU CATER TO SAME SEX COUPLES? ARE YOU LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY?

Yes & Yes! We cater to ALL couples! Love is love and we have plenty of experience doing same sex weddings.

DO YOU CATER TO ALL SKIN TYPES/TONES, HAIR TYPES/TEXTURES?

Absolutely! Haley has 13+ years doing bridal and special occasion makeup and has performed many applications on different ethnicities and skin types. Missy has been doing hair well over 35 years now and is well versed in many different hair types. This is where your trial and communication comes in handy. We ask you tons of questions about both you and your bridal party before-hand so when we go to make your schedule for the big day!

WILL HAVING A TAN, LASH EXTENSIONS OR HAIRSTYLE CHANGE AFFECT THE LOOK OF THE HAIR OR MAKE-UP ON THE WEDDING DAY?

If you get a tan after your trial run, don’t worry as the makeup can be color-matched again on the wedding day to blend with the tan. We do encourage you to try your spray tan out prior to your wedding especially if you’ve never had one. If you plan on having one, getting one prior to your trial is a fantastic idea as it gives you a “real idea” of what your makeup will look like the day of the wedding since when you are tanner, the colors we use look different than they do when you have fairer skin tone. In regard to lash extensions, they will have a similar look to false lashes so if it's something you're considering, we can apply false lashes during your trial to get the same look.

If you are thinking of changing your hairstyle dramatically in color or length we would strongly advise having this done first before booking the trial so you can then see how the hair will look on the wedding day as if it changed after the trial Missy cannot guarantee the style will look the same. We recommend discussing this with us prior to your wedding so we can give you thoughts, recommendations and feedback!
